Tater SB34 — The Balanced Softball Wood Bat
Balanced softball wood bat design is about one thing — how fast you can move the bat through the zone without losing control. The SB34 is built around that idea. Thin profile. 28 oz balanced weight. Quick swings, clean barrel control, precise contact. The wood softball bat for hitters who win on bat speed and placement rather than power.
This is the smaller, more compact counterpart to our BB34. Where the BB34 leans into the larger barrel for power hitters, the SB34 strips down for speed. Both run 28 oz, but the SB34's thin profile makes the bat feel even quicker in the hands. Built for the slow pitch contact hitter or gap hitter.
Why bat-speed hitters pick the SB34
Slow pitch softball is a placement-hitting sport at the higher levels. Pitches arrive slow, hitters have time to read, and the difference between an out and a base hit is whether you can drive the ball into the right gap. The SB34's balanced 28 oz design gives you the bat speed to manipulate placement. The thin profile keeps the swing quick and controlled. The softball wood bat for hitters who hit smart, not just hard.
Why a wood softball bat vs alloy
Wood teaches the hitter mechanics that aluminum and composite let you skip. Off-center contact on a wood softball bat gives weaker exit velocity, so the hitter learns to square the ball up. Hitters who train with wood become better hitters when they pick up an alloy bat in a league game. The SB34 is also legal in most slow pitch leagues that allow wood bats (check your league's specific bat rules before ordering).

Tater® vs. other brands
There's a reason pros are switching to swing Tater®
Most wood bats are made for retail shelves — lower-grade lumber, bulk machining, inconsistent pop. The Tater® Wood Bat is hand-split, hand-finished, and bone-rubbed to MLB standards.
- Higher density wood lasts longer and provides better “pop” off the barrel.
- Ink dot tested to prove our bats meet professional standards.
- Hand-split wood follows the natural grain, making bats stronger, more durable, and less likely to break.
- Bone rubbing compresses the wood fibers, making the bat harder, improving durability, and increasing ball exit speeds.
