Tater CB15 Pro — The Power Hitter Wood Bat

Power hitter wood bat design is about one trade-off. The bigger the barrel, the harder the bat is to swing. The CB15 Pro is built for hitters who have already solved that trade-off — advanced power hitters with the bat speed to handle an end-loaded feel and the mechanics to use it. The 15/16" handle keeps the swing manageable. The extra-large barrel does the damage.

This is an advanced hitter wood bat in the most literal sense. New hitters and contact-focused players will find the end-load harder to control than a balanced or slight end-load profile. Power hitters who already work the barrel and stay through the ball get a bat that translates their swing into exit velocity.

The 243-inspired profile is one of the most-trusted power-bat shapes in pro baseball. The CB15 takes that profile and pairs it with a 15/16" thin handle — slightly thicker than the thinnest pro grips, which adds a touch of break resistance without losing bat speed. What size wood bat should I order?

Length ranges from 30"–34". Drop weight (length-to-weight ratio) ranges from -3 to +2. Drop weight is the difference between bat length in inches and bat weight in ounces — a -3 drop means a 34" bat weighs 31 oz. Most adult hitters use 32"–34" at a -2 or -3 drop. What types of wood are Tater bats made from?

Hard maple and yellow birch — both MLB-grade. Maple has been the pro standard for over 20 years: densest, hardest hitting surface, biggest pop on clean contact, but a smaller sweet spot and less forgiveness on mis-hits. Birch sits between maple and ash — similar density to maple with more flex on impact, which makes it more forgiving on mis-hits and a smart starting point for hitters transitioning from metal to wood. What is the warranty on Tater wood bats?

30-day limited warranty on structural cracking under normal field use. To qualify, the bat must be a 2021 model year or later, you must be the original purchaser with proof of purchase from an authorized Tater dealer, and you must have followed our hitting guidelines (no cage-style dimpled balls, no storage in extreme heat or cold like a car trunk, no excessive moisture exposure). Why are wood bats cupped at the end?

Cupping is a small concave dish drilled into the end of the barrel. It removes a few grams of mass from the very tip, which shifts the bat's balance point slightly toward the hands and makes the swing feel quicker through the zone. Tater hand-cups each bat, and our process allows for variable cup depths to dial in feel without compromising end-cap strength — which actually reduces the risk of chips and cracks on inside pitches.

What is the black dot on the handle?

Every Tater maple and birch bat carries an ink dot near the handle as proof of MLB-grade slope-of-grain certification. The ink dot's bleed pattern reveals whether the wood grain runs cleanly along the bat's long axis — a tight bleed means safe, MLB-spec slope; a fast bleed means rejected billet. The dot is the visible proof every bat passed inspection before leaving our shop.
